Educational Profile


The Chile government guarantees education to all. Attending primary school and secondary school is compulsory for all Chilean. Both public and private systems of education are available. Free education is provided by the state to those belonging to poor class families and cannot afford study cost. The levels of education in Chile are categorized as-

Pre School Education- Mostly provided by private educational institutions. The Pre School Education is not compulsory.

Primary School Education- Compulsory to all Chileans, and divided in 8 grades. Children between 5 to 13 years of age attend primary schools. Both private and public schools provide primary education.

Secondary School- Children 13 to 18 years old attends classes at this level. Education is divided into 4 grades and classified into Sciences - Humanities and Technical. Both private and public institutions through Liceos provide education.

Superior Education- Education at this level is provided through University Selection Test or PSU and Private System. Admission requirements vary for different institutes and study programs.
